Streamline your ability to price projects and improve your sales process by using a tried and tested pricing model

In this doc you’ll learn:

  1. How to export a spreadsheet with pricing
  2. How to edit the numbers

Generate a sitemap

Firstly, we want to get an understanding of the scope of the project. An easy way to do this is by generating a sitemap based on any information about the company and their website goals that you have learned about the company. Sometimes this information can come from an existing website, or maybe it can come from a discovery call and your notes from that call.

You’ll want to gather information like:

  • What does the company do?
  • What are the primary goals of the company?
  • What are the primary goals of the website?
  • What are the must-have pages for this website?

Write a prompt based on these answers.

Export a spreadsheet with pricing

Once you have generated a sitemap, you can navigate to the top right and click on Export. In this menu, you’ll find the “Export to Excel (with pricing)” option.

Clicking this will instantly download an excel file.

Edit the numbers

Inside this file, there are a few key numbers you could change to edit the output.

  • Price per unique section
  • Price per Global
  • Navbar and Footer

You can adjust these numbers to effect the overall totals.

Proficiency level

The excel file has 3 pages:

  • Beginner
  • Intermediate
  • Advanced.

Each page has its own pricing structure based on your proficiency with Webflow. You could also look at these like level of complexities of the project. Are you expecting the designs to be minimalistic/simple or more complex with custom animations/interactions? Adjust accordingly.

Adjust range

Each page (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced) has a percentage range. Changing this percentage changes the low/high gap between three numbers below it, helping deal with uncertainties. If you're unsure about the project when setting the price, think about a larger range. If you have a good idea of the project scope, you could make the range smaller.

Basically this gives you more financial runway for a project if you’re expecting more surprises and scope creep.

Price per section

During Relume’s agency days, it was identified early on that pricing per section made sense for us. There are a lot of ways to price projects - per page, per hour, or better understanding your client’s budget and the value you are providing. But with this formula, you can get very calculated and intentional with your pricing, creating more profitable projects and growing your agency. It’s not to say that per page, per hour or any other way will not result in profitability - whatever pricing structure you go with, be calculated and intentional about it. Track your projects so that you know they are profitable, and make adjustments.

With these numbers, you can adjust the per section pricing to effect the total. This is the way to account for complexity of a project - maybe you know there will be custom animations, 3D or custom design assets that you want to account for - increase the per section price here to account for that.

In Summary

There’s no single “right way” to price projects. You have to find what works best for you, and being able to generate a sitemap and a pricing excel sheet in a matter of a few minute with very little effort is just one way Relume can help.
